Treating Tooth Sensitivity

If you are experiencing tooth pain, you should visit your dentist as soon as possible. Our team will take the time to identify the cause of your pain and determine what treatment is required. If you have a larger problem, we will take the time to explain your options to you.

Gum Recession

A common cause of tooth sensitivity is receding gums. It can be helped by maintaining good oral health and brushing your teeth gently to help with the regrowth of your gums.  If you have a severe case of gum recession, you may need a gum graft. The process involves using the tissue from the palate and placing it on top of the root of your tooth to protect it.

Teeth Grinding and Clenching

Grinding your teeth is another one of the main causes of tooth pain. In the long run, grinding will cause your enamel to wear down and may even chip one or more of your teeth. If you know that you clench or grind your teeth, be aware of stressful situations and where you are holding that stress (your jaw). Avoiding caffeine before bed can also help minimize grinding and clenching. A mouthguard may help you preserve your bite and teeth.
